OSAP IRB Constable Selection Process 2024
The OSAP IRB Constable Selection Process is structured to thoroughly evaluate candidates through multiple critical stages. Each phase plays a vital role in assessing the candidates’ overall suitability for the constable position.
Written Examination
The process begins with a Written Examination, which carries a total of 100 marks. This examination tests candidates on a variety of subjects essential to law enforcement, such as general knowledge, reasoning, and current affairs. Achieving a passing score in this phase is essential for candidates to advance to the next stages, as it establishes their foundational knowledge required for a successful career in the police force.
Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
The Physical Measurement Test (PMT) is a qualifying stage for candidates in various categories. It assesses candidates based on minimum physical standards, including height, weight, and chest measurements. For UR & SEBC men, the required height is 168 cm, weight is 55 kg, and chest measurements are 79 cm unexpanded and 84 cm expanded. For SC/ST men, the minimum height is 163 cm, weight is 50 kg, and chest measurements are 76 cm unexpanded and 81 cm expanded. There must be a minimum 5 cm difference between unexpanded and expanded chest measurements. Failure to meet these standards leads to disqualification.
Physical Efficiency Test (PST)
The Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is conducted for candidates who qualify in the Physical Measurement Test. It assesses fitness through three events: running, broad jump, and high jump. Candidates must complete a 1.6 km run within 6 minutes. For the broad jump, they must clear 4.00 meters in a maximum of 3 attempts, and for the high jump, they must achieve 1.38 meters, also within 3 attempts. Candidates must submit a self-declaration regarding their physical fitness before participating in the PET.
Driving Test
The selection process also includes a Driving Test, which is worth 5 marks. This assessment is designed to evaluate the driving skills of candidates, focusing on their ability to safely operate police vehicles. Proficiency in driving is crucial for constables, as it directly impacts their effectiveness in responding to emergencies and conducting patrols.
NCC Certification
Candidates applying for the exam can earn up to 2 bonus marks for possessing any NCC certificate (‘A’, ‘B’, or ‘C’). These marks will be awarded after the verification of original certificates. It is important for candidates to accurately enter their NCC certificate type in the online application form. The overall marks distribution includes 100 marks for the written test, 2 marks for the NCC certificate, and an optional driving test worth 5 marks.
Medical Examination
